St. George’s: Minister for Education and Labour Hon. Claris Charles is presently representing Grenada at the Fourth Meeting of Ministers of Education within the framework of the Inter- American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) of the Organisation of American States (OAS). The meeting being held in Scarborough, Tobago from August 10th to 12th will focus on the importance of education in the development and sustainability of democracy, as well as its vital role in the promoting of personal development, social inclusion, and the economic prosperity of our peoples. The ministers will share information on current education policies aimed at improving the quality of education; they will analyze the results of joint activities in the framework of commitments undertaken within the OAS, and they will use the opportunity to identify a future work plan. Outcomes of the meeting will include the Declaration of Scarborough and Commitments to Action and findings to be considered by Heads of State and Government at the Fourth Summit of the Americas, to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in November 2005.
