INDIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO GRENADA BIDS FAREWELL  
St. George’s: The Government and People of India say they will go beyond the token level of support to offer substantial assistance to Grenada in the wake of destruction by Hurricanes Ivan and Emily. In a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, non-resident Indian High Commissioner Virendra Gupta re-committed his country’s promises to support Grenada in the areas of Agriculture, Small Scale Industry as well as science and technology and diplomacy. The High Commissioner for Grenada said, material assistance, training in computer technology and scholarships are just a few of the other areas the government of India has promised Grenada. Prime Minister Mitchell in saying goodbye to the High Commissioner indicated that the Government Grenada was very pleased with the show of support and the constant presence of High Commissioner Gupta. He said that the help rendered by the Indian Government is crucial. Dr. Mitchell asked the outgoing High Commissioner to convey his Government and People’s sincere gratitude and best wishes to the Government and people of India. Ambassador Gupta told the Prime Minister that despite tremendous damage by the hurricanes, Grenada remains a paradise. Source: Office of the Prime Minister
