INDIA OFFERS ASSISTANCE TO GRENADA  
ST. GEORGE’S Grenada: The Government of India says it will go beyond the token level of support to offer substantial assistance to Grenada in the wake of destruction by Hurricanes Ivan and Emily. In a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, non-resident Indian High Commissioner Virendra Gupta re-committed his country’s promises to support Grenada in the areas of agriculture, small-scale Industry as well as science and technology and diplomacy. The High Commissioner said material assistance, training in computer technology and scholarships are just a few of the other areas in which the government of India has promised Grenada. Prime Minister Mitchell indicated to the High Commissioner that the Government of Grenada was very pleased with the show of support and the constant presence of High Commissioner Gupta. He said that the help rendered by the Indian Government is crucial. Ambassador Gupta told the Prime Minister that, despite tremendous damage by the hurricanes, in his view Grenada remains a paradise. Dr. Mitchell asked the outgoing High Commissioner to convey his Government and people’s sincere gratitude and best wishes to the Government and people of India.
