St. George’s: Acting Canadian High Commissioner Ms. Joanne Goulet, has complimented the Government of Grenada for its Reconstruction and Redevelopment program. In a meeting this morning with Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Hon. Keith Mitchell the Acting High Commissioner said she was pleasantly surprised to see the development that had taken place in Grenada since Hurricane Ivan. However, both Prime Minister Mitchell and High Commissioner Goulet recognized that there was still a significant amount of work to be done. Prime Minister Mitchell thanked the Acting High Commissioner and the Government of Canada for the assistance that Canada had given to Grenada especially in the areas of Disaster Management and Mitigation, and the pivotal role they played in helping to establish the A.R.D. Prime Minister Mitchell informed the Acting High Commissioner that housing was one of the main priorities of the Government. He said that he is seeking to secure more direct help for persons whose homes were affected by Hurricanes Ivan and Emily. The Acting High Commissioner who met with Prime Minister Mitchell this morning to officially inform the Prime Minister that she has come to the end of her stint as acting High Commissioner, told the Prime Minister that she would update the incoming High Commissioner on Grenada’s needs.
