Private Johnson Gideon Beharry, the Grenadian recipient of the Victoria Cross, arrived on the island yesterday to a true hero's welcome. Hundreds lined the route of his motorcade along the airport road to see the soldier's triumphant return. Beharry, standing tall through the sunroof of a limousine, waved to the crowd and shook hands with many who wanted to congratulate this outstanding son of the soil. During his visit Private Beharry is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell and on the Governor General Sir Daniel Williams. A reception is planned in his home village in Diego Piece on Saturday.
