NATIONAL SUMMARY OF GRENADA'S CXC RESULTS |

The Caribbean Examination Council has released the preliminary results of the May/June sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examination (CSEC)
The particular examination is referred to locally as CXC however, it is important that we get accustomed to the name CSEC especially as the Council administers another examination which is CAPE.
NATIONAL SUMMARY DATA
The number of students entered for the examination in 2005 was 1795. In 2004 a total of 1894 candidates wrote the examination. The number of candidates in 2005 decreased by 0.5 %.
The number of subjects entries increased from 11,240 in 2004 to 11,580 in 2005.
The number of subjects awards in 2005 was 7153.
This means that the pass rate (percentage of subject awarded Grade 1 – 111) at the General and Technical Proficiency level is 61.8 %.
The pass rate for the past six years as follows:
2000 - 63.3%
2001 - 66.0%
2002 - 64.0%
2003 - 67.4%
2004 - 65.0%
2005 - 61.8%
Eleven schools obtained a pass rate higher than the national pass rate of 61.8%.
Overall performance in 2005 has shown a decline over the 2004 results. However the performance of candidates was very satisfactory.
