TOURISM MINISTER CONTINUES MEETINGS WITH INDUSTRY PLAYE...  
The Minister of Tourism Hon. Brenda Hood held the last of several stakeholders’ meetings yesterday with tourist venders. The purpose of these meetings is to develop the relationship among all stakeholders involved in the tourism industry. The minister gave a report on the rehabilitation of the tourism sector. She explained that work is ongoing at the venders’ booths in Grand Etang, the Melville Street Shopping Plaza and the Market Square. She also noted that work will start on the venders market in Grand Anse before the beginning of the tourist season. Minister Hood stated that the Government and the Ministry of Tourism are committed to the continued development of the tourism sector. The Minister also met with taxi drivers last Friday to discuss several issues related to the tourism sector including the revitalization of tourism sites and facilities. At that meeting the minister stressed the importance of creating and maintaining high standards for Grenada’s tourism product. She also noted that training for taxi drivers was provided by the ministry in collaboration with USAID and urged the drivers to use the training they received to enhance the services that they provide to both locals and visitors. Also present at these meetings were Senior Technical Officer and acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Miss Lima Frederick, Technical Officer Mr. Francis Robertson and representatives from the Grenada Board of Tourism and Grenada Ports Authority.
