IMF IN DOMINICA AND GRENADA |
|
|
The International Monetary Fund says it has been playing a key role in the design and adjustment policies of some Caribbean economies in the last year.
According to its 2005 report, Dominica and Grenada have had to approach their creditors for restructuring of their sovereign debt.
The IMF says that at the end of May, creditors holding over 70 per cent of Dominica’s debt had agreed to restructure it.
It further states that the global body is providing financial support to Roseau under a three year arrangement.
In the case of Grenada, the IMF says it provided emergency financial assistance following hurricane Ivan last year.
The island's public debt had reached 130 per cent of GDP.
