Ms. Town of St. George, Keisha Best has been crowned Miss Spice Isle 2005 out of a field of 12 beautiful young ladies. Ms. Best edged out Ms. Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Jermaine Simon into second position with Dessie Julien taking position number three. The Grenada Trade Centre was packed to capacity as the 12 young ladies displayed their beauty and talent in what has been described by some as the show of the year. The categories up for judging were Ambassadorial Speech, Talent, Evening Gown and Interview. The show which was staged by Spice Youth Promotion in collaboration with Mr. Kirk Seethal is the very first in what is expected to be an annual event. There was tight competition and splendid performances from each of the participants in the various areas. Keisha Lavines came out on top in the Talent Category with her splendid performance of a skit on life as a vagrant. Jermaine Simon won the best Ambassadorial Speech with a performance that shook the Grenada Trade Centre with its energy and passion. Keisha Best won in the Evening Gown category as well as the award for Miss Congeniality. The show which was sponsored by Cable and Wireless sported a sound proof booth which housed the final five contestants Keisha Best, Jermaine Simon, Keisha Lavines, Nisa Lawrence and Dessie Julien as they were each individually asked the final question which was to decide the eventual winner.
