The Ministry of Education would like to inform the public that it is not responsible for articles in the local media which named the 2005 Island Scholar. The Ministry wishes to advise that the Island Scholar is selected based on the results of Cambridge A' level or CAPE Examinations and not on the CSEC Examination. Further the Island Scholar is recommended by the External Examination Board and not by an internal body. The Marryshow Cup and the La Grenade Shield are the two national awards given based on the CSEC results and no one has yet been nominated for these awards. Source: Ministry of Education
