BLINDNESS PREVENTION WEEK OBSERVED IN GRENADA |

ST. GEORGE’S Grenada: Beginning Monday, October 10, to Friday, October 14, 2005, Grenada will observe Blindness Prevention Week, under the theme, “Right to Sight”.
As part of the activities marking the week of observance, Grenadians will have an opportunity to have their eyes tested, free of charge, on Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Grenada Trade Centre, in Morne Rouge. Eye testing will be made possible by the Blindness Prevention Committee, in conjunction with the Grenada Diabetic Association and the Ministry of Health.
Over the past two months more than one thousand Grenadians, benefited from an eye testing and diagnosis program, dubbed “Miracle Eye Mission”, which was made possible by the Governments of Grenada, Cuba and Venezuela.
In support of the program, Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell accompanied more than one hundred and twenty (120) Grenadian patients to the Spanish speaking country, to receive surgery for their respective eye conditions.
Other activities planned to for the observance of Blindness Prevention Week, includes a radio call-in program and press conference which will be used to sensitize people on the need to take the best care of their eyes, and means and ways to guarantee their sight.
