MINISTRY OF FINANCE VACANCIES  
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Industry in St. George’s Grenada, is seeking qualified persons to fill the positions hereunder: 1. Director of Statistics The Director of Statistics will generally be responsible for the management of the Statistical Office and for advising the Government of Grenada, through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, on relevant statistical matters. Key Responsibilities -- General Management of the Central Statistical Office in accordance with existing policies, rules and regulations. -- Ensure the production of quarterly economic data and its timely submission to the Economic Affairs Department of the Ministry of Finance. -- Prepare reports for presentation at local, regional and international fora. -- Ensure the establishment of data collection systems with public and private sector organizations and smooth running of these systems. -- Compilation and analysis of Grenada’s annual National Accounts and Balance of Payments. -- Production of the Consumer Price Index Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate should possess a Postgraduate Degree, Masters' Degree or Professional Training in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline plus five (5) years working experience at a senior management levels and experience in statistical analysis. Remuneration Contractual position with competitive compensation package. 2. Chief Economist The Chief Economist will generally be responsible for the coordination of the Macro Economic and Policy Research Unit Key Responsibilities -- Coordinate the work programme of the Unit. This include: -- Preparation of quarterly public sector reports; -- Preparation of financial programmes; -- Preparation of annual macro economic reports; -- Preparation of medium term economic strategy reports; -- Preparation of policy proposals on macro economic issues. -- Monitor developments in the macro economic variables such as employment, prices, and aggregate output for inclusion in macro economic reports. -- Organise meetings with major stakeholders. -- Pursue research on macro economic issues. -- Coordinate and provide data and macro-economic reports to missions from regional and international organizations. Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate should possess a Masters Degree in Economics plus five (5) years working experience in macro-economics. Remuneration Contractual position, for two (2) years, with competitive compensation package. 3. Comptroller of Inland Revenue The Comptroller will generally be responsible for the overall administration and management of the Department of Inland Revenue (IRD). Key Responsibilities -- Administration and enforcement of tax laws. -- Advising Permanent Secretary on the overall effectiveness of the tax policies and where necessary assist in identifying new sources of tax revenue. -- Reviewing current laws and proposed legislation and providing recommendations to improve the administration of tax laws. -- Collection of Government’s revenue. -- Keep staff informed of changes in procedures, policies and tax laws. -- Ensure that relevant mechanisms are in place for efficient work performance. Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate must have a Postgraduate Degree in Tax Administration together with an ACCA or a professional qualification in Accounting. The candidate must also have five (5) years experience in tax administration and experience in a supervisory capacity in the public or private sector. Membership in the Institute of Taxation or other professional body would be an asset. Remuneration Contractual position with competitive compensation package.
