GRENADA TO HOLD TWO-DAY NATIONAL CONSULTATION TO DISCUS...
The Ministry of Health, in keeping with its mandate to deliver the best affordable health care to the citizens of Grenada, will hold two national consultation workshops on the development of the country’s five-year national strategic plan for health. These workshops will take place on the 8th and 9th of November. The consultation which is all part of the Government’s initiative to develop and sustain a strategic plan for health for the period 2006-2010, is expected to bring primary and secondary stakeholders as well as health care and non health care providers, to analyse and discuss the existing state of Grenada’s healthcare system and plan a strategic way forward. On September 16th, the Ministry launched the initiative following the visit of consultant Dr. Ricky Kalliecharan form the university of Leeds in the United Kingdom which signal the commencement of the development of the national strategic plan for health. As part of the developmental process the Ministry undertook a series of meetings with its members of staff which were designed to sensitise the key role players of the process. It is expected that on completion of the strategic plan a number of health priorities will be identified and steps will be taken to implement them in keeping with the plans and objectives of the Ministry of Health and the Grenada Government.
