ST GEORGE'S - Two local triathletes, Clare Morrall and Brooke Henderson, represented Grenada in the 13th annual Karukera triathlon on the French Caribbean island Guadeloupe on Sunday, November 20th. About 200 competitors took part in the triathlon completing either a sprint distance or Olympic distance race. The race was held at Canella Beach in the town of Gosier a short distance from Point à Pietre- the capital of Guadeloupe. A number of male and female French professional triathletes competed in the event. Brooke and Clare completed the Olympic distance race which consisted of a 1500 metre swim, a 40 kilometer (24 mile) cycle, and lastly, a 10 kilometer (6 miles) run. The race was both an adventure and a challenge for the Grenada representatives! Both Clare Morrall and Brooke Henderson won prize money for placing 4th and 5th respectively in the senior women's race. A special honor trophy was given to the Grenada Triathlon competitors for their participation. Clare and Brooke are members of the Grenada Triathlon Association.
