PRESENTATION OF NATIONAL BUDGET NOW SCHEDULED FOR 2006 ...
St. George’s, November 30, 2005: The Government of Grenada has taken the decision to postpone the presentation of the 2006 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditures from December 2005 to early 2006. As recently announced by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Anthony Boatswain, the decision to postpone the presentation of the Budget is based on the need for Government and the Ministry of Finance to have more time for a comprehensive review and research of the suggestions and comments that resulted from the series of consultations that were held with the various stakeholders. In his address at the National Budget Consultation on Wednesday November 23, 2005, the Minister of Finance announced that the 2006 Budget will focus on economic growth, poverty reduction and macroeconomic stability. The Minister also stated that a team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will assist the Government of Grenada in developing a long term strategy for poverty reduction and growth stability. The Ministry of Finance extends its gratitude to all who participated in the various consultations and looks forward to the continued support of all stakeholders, as we continue to rebuild our economy.
