The Airport Authority has signed a contract with the Grenada Motor Club granting permission to turn Pearls Airstrip into an official drag racing site. The development of the site will include bleachers on both sides of the track & in the pit area. The full length of the track will be fenced to keep patrons away from the strip. Concrete barriers will also be placed on both sides of the starting grid or launch pad protecting spectators in the event of a runaway car. 100 feet of concrete will be laid down as the launch pad to accommodate the more high powered cars. These infrastructure developments will be put in placed over time as the GMC seeks assistance from sponsors and fundraising events. The goal of the GMC is to beautify Pearls Airstrip so Grenadians can be proud of a place they can take their families for an afternoon of entertainment which will not only be drag racing, but also include concerts, parades and other social events. Foreigners visiting Grenada and Pearls for different events (social/sporting) will enjoy the ambiance of the newly restored Pearls Airstrip. Source: Grenada Motor Club
