JUNIOR CALYPSO MONARCH OFF TO ST. KITTS
The 2005 Junior Calypso Monarch, Etieron Edwards leaves the island on Wednesday December 21st, 2005 to represent Grenada at the annual OECS Junior Calypso Competition. The Competition forms part of the 34th National Carnival celebrations in St. Kitts. Etieron will be accompanied to St. Kitts by his mentor Mr. Ivan Thomas. Prince Tyrone, his stage sobriquet, began singing at age 11 and has made the finals of the Junior Calypso Competition in his native Grenada on two occasions. Born and raised in the fishing town of Gouyave, Etieron continues the strong tradition of excellence in both the cultural and sporting arenas. The fourteen (14) year old Etieron is currently a member of the National under 15 football team and is presently in training with the National under 17 football team. Young Etieron is very confident that he will proudly and effectively represent his country at the OECS Junior Calypso Competition on Friday December 23rd, 2005. The trip to St. Kitts is funded in part by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Grenada Carnival Committee. Both the Ministry and the Committee would like to wish Mr. Edwards all the best at the Competition and is pleased that Grenada is represented by such a worthy candidate.
