Last Saturday GULP Political Leader met with members of the Diaspora in New York to discuss his plans to rebuild and strengthen the GULP. The Political Leader was well received by the gathering and the smiling faces promised a phenomenal change for GULP among the Diaspora in New York . The vibrant, young and talented Leader welcomed the gathering and pledged his commitment in working with all GULP members to ensure GULP gets back in Government. He indicated that the party must remained united under the mandate of the constitution. The GULP members voted an executive and all members must work to rebuild GULP within that framework, Collin Francis told the crowd. GULP’s Leader, also a Union Activist, has also been making great strides in assisting the GMMIWU and was very instrumental in saving the jobs of many workers in the recent past. With his usual exuberance, he warned, that the road ahead will be faced with many challenges but GULP in his hands will be watchful of men and women with selfish ambitions, who will not put country first and members must be careful of such. GULP believes that the current political climate has left a vacuum, making it the best time in history for Gulp to get back in Government. The Diaspora can make a difference in what happens in an election. The party has experience some tumultuous times with the death of its long standing Leader, Sir Eric Mathew Gairy, and has been devastated with infightings, however, in the recent past GULP has been rather stable. At this juncture GULP is searching for perspective candidates and is targeting young men and women working together with all members for the single purpose of putting into government honest, committed and patriotic Grenadians. . The Diaspora is critical for the revival of GULP. The GULP Chapter in New York will be set up this week. It will comprise a committee of five including a Chairperson, Treasurer, General Secretary, Public Relation Officer and floor member. This group will be mandated to advance the cause of GULP by generating new members, raising funds, creating an awareness of GULP in New York and co-operating with the Political Leader and Party Executive. Among the persons present at the meeting last Saturday were Roy Mc Bain, Lyton Perez, Dennis Canning, Agnes Langdon, Norris Bain , Damion Charles and a number of young persons as well. The Political Leader will meet with the Diaspora again in the next few months. From the Grenada United Labour Party (GULP)
