|
|
Hillsborough, Carriacou, December 2nd, 2010- The pitch is rolled and the venue preparations almost complete. It’s all in anticipation of a historic first for Carriacou.
Starting Friday, December 3rd, the island will be hosting a regional cricket match. Grenada will play St. Vincent at the Lauriston mini-stadium in a game in the 2010 Windward Islands Cricket Tournament.
Many cricket fans, including the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, have expressed their enthusiasm at Carriacou’s inaugural hosting of a first class regional game.
Minister George Prime, who once represented Grenada on the Windward Islands Youth Cricket Team, described the Grenada/St. Vincent match as an important event for Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
He believes it will aid in the development of sports-tourism on the islands.
The three-day match concludes on Sunday.
