MP LETT EXPRESSES SYMPATHY, SHARES CONCERN
Member of Parliament for St. David, Hon. Denis Lett, has expressed “deepest sympathy’’ to the family and friends of a man who died at the General Hospital following an altercation with officers attached to the St. David’s Police Station. The victim has been identified as Oscar Bartholomew, who was visiting from Toronto, Canada. “My deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mr. Bartholomew,’’ said MP Lett, who is also Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. “Many persons from St. David and other parts of Grenada have also contacted me expressing concern at the incident and I’ve told them that I, too, share their concern.’’ Mr. Lett, who along with Prime Minister Tillman Thomas visited Bartholomew’s family on Wednesday, said that every effort should be made to ascertain the facts of the matters as quickly as possible, before rumours and speculation take root. “I know the police will conduct their own internal investigation,’’ MP Lett said. “But they may also wish to consider setting up a broader commission of enquiry that includes a retired judge to speed up the investigation and uncover all the facts surrounding the incident.’’

I must say, as considerably as I ejoyned reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a excellent grasp around the subject matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from more than one angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so very much. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just heading for a gut reaction to the subject. Think about adjusting your own believed process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.

Claudia, we are not talking about the US or Canada. We are talking about the peace and loving Grenada you and others often lie about. Do you remember the JCB conotation that is thrown about whenever one of you come to visit? Do you know how those who have gone to England and returned for good are often looked upon with greed, envy, jealousy, hate, condemnation, etc? All because they went to England, work their asses off while some of us remain here doing nothing better ourselves. The police and people like you have got the bloody same mentality. We should not have no retired judges and ex-police officers involved in such high level murder. I smell and see pure bribery reading your suggestion. We cannot and should not have any police-past or present investigating itself. In closing, you come across as a member of Gairy's most feared Mongoose Gang. Yes, you come across as an exMongoose Gang quasi officer.

Everyone is calling for justice for Oscar, and it will be done...Mind you as in every situation, there are sides to the story, and it will be out...As it stands, he assaulted a Police Officer, and then was arrested, from there the situation got out of hand, leading to a death...Maybe for a better investigation to continued a system should be set up with a few past judges, and lawyers, and a past police officers to head such team, (mind you this team should not expect payment, and it should be free)... It this situation happened in another country, like Canada, or the US, he would off been shot, not beaten, and body left somewhere...I know most people are angry but let the justice system (whatever it is) continued its investigation..
