Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has expressed sympathy with the relatives and friends of Oscar Bartholomew, who died as a result of an incident in St. David on Boxing Day. The Prime Minister, who is also Grenada’s Minister of Legal Affairs, visited with family members of the deceased on Wednesday and expressed sorrow at the incident. The Grenadian leader was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for St. David, Denis Michael Lett and Minister with responsibility for Information, Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Mobilisation, in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Glen Noel. Prime Minister Thomas promised his full support to ensuring the determination of the facts of the incident and has asked the Attorney General’s Chambers to help with the investigation. The Prime Minister this morning emphasized the need for a “full and unimpeded” investigation into the incident. The following is the full text of the statement. “As Prime Minister and Minister for National Security, I sympathize with the family and friends of Oscar Bartholomew, the victim of a tragedy in St. David on Boxing Day. I have been informed by Police Commissioner Willan Thompson that an investigation is underway to determine the facts. I have asked the Commissioner for a full report, once the investigation is completed. I will give all the necessary support and make the resources available, to ensure a full and transparent process. I have directed the respective government departments and agencies, including the Attorney General’s Chambers, to provide the support necessary for the full and unimpeded investigation of this occurrence.”

Littleboy, I would like to oppose your suggestion of bringing in investigators from Barbados. Unfortunately, I don't think this level of criminal act should be left to investigators here in Grenada nor the Caribbean region. We need top international investigators frOm Canada or USA to send the right message to Tillman Thomas, the NDC, the Tourist Board and those who often seek to harass and label returning diaspora Grenadians AS JCBs. We in Grenada aught to realize that returning nationals often pump a lot of money into out economy. Diaspora Grenadians patronage our local economy on a monthly basis (money sent to support families at home, friends, offerings and tithes for churches, neighbors, businesses, banking institutions, etc.) are monies that are normally filtered through our economy. When they visit, a great number of them rent guest houses, check into hotels, support the village shops, restaurants, give money here and there to neighbors, friends, etc. Should these people hold back on their finances, our local economy will surely be in jeopardy. Regarding the judges in Grenada and their light sentencies: Littleboy, please remember RGPF officers (some not all) often tamper with material evidences. For example, when the RGPF Coast Guard conducts a raid, the guns, drugs and seized contrabands are usually stolen by those offiers involved, sold on the street to local drug lords at huge profits. With that said, most of those judges operating in Grenada are usually caught between a rock and a hard place. With no physical evidence, most of them have no other choice but to release those who should be convicted of serious crimes. Our commissioner of RGPF is fully aware of the situation. Tillman Thomas and other socal politicians are fully knowledgeable of what is going on with our law enforcement and court systems. They refuse to address those issues because somebody is benefiting. They all have a price.

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, you have to do more than that. You have to make a strong statement and do your utmost to have these people including that heffer who screamed rape temporarly removed from their respective posts without pay pending a thorough investigation by a qualified, competent group of well trained investigators probably from Barbados to get some true results. I want to see what you are made of. You ought to be more involved, you are indeed the Prime Minister, you need to make your strong presence felt.
