PRIME MINISTER UPDATES STAKEHOLDERS ON NATIONAL DEVELOP...

St. George, Grenada, January 20th, 2012: Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has begun a series of meetings to update stakeholders on important national developments. This morning the Grenadian leader met and held discussions with members of the Inter Agency Group of Development Organisations (IAGDO) while members of the religious community, including the Grenada Conference of Churches and representatives of the Moslem faith in Grenada, met with the Prime Minister this afternoon. “We have always held the view that the NGO community and our religious leaders are critical to the governance process. I know the contribution you have been making to the social stability of our society and we must find ways to re-engage if we are to succeed in transforming our country,” the Prime Minister said Friday. He took the opportunity to update both groups on the recent events in Grenada including the death of Oscar Bartholomew and the government’s role in the impasse between the Grenada Breweries and the Technical and Allied Workers Union (TAWU). In his meeting with the religious community, the Grenadian leader said while his government is making every effort to change the island’s economic fortunes, his administration is committed to a governance process that reflects integrity and honesty. The leaders told the Prime Minister they supported his position against the introduction of Casino gambling to Grenada since gambling is against both the Christian and Moslem faiths. Both the NGO representatives and the religious leaders shared with the Prime Minister ideas which they believe can assist the government in reducing poverty and increasing the involvement of people in national development. They praised the administration for its support for agriculture and education. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Ministry with responsibility for Information and Mobilisation, Sen. Glen Noel.

Good morning Stallion. Let it be known that when certain issues here on GC are addressed by me, I fully aware that my position on those issues are not solely for Stallion's benefits. I voice my opinions here in hope that they will provoke and challenge others to think and objectively take a position on the issue(s). I did not accuse Tillman Thomas of anything. You are so subjective in your thoughts that it's difficult for you to see beyond Observer's samll brain. In my opinion once again: Tillman Thomas was the the leader of the country during the release of the Gang 17. As leader of an independent nation, PM Thomas, irrespective of the Privy Council's ruling, had the right and power to question, make recommendations and demonstrate against the release. He could have sanctioned and demanded a referedum or mandate of the Grenada people, which would have questioned and rescind the Privy Council's ruling. His failure to act in such manner, added to his administration's employment of Hudson Austin, Leon "bogo" Cornwall, Cecil Prime and other members of the Gang 17 are clear indications that he was fully involved in their release. I hope there are assertive, prudent and out of the box thinkers on GC who are aware and can see the correlations that Observer is trying to make here. PM Thomas hired these criminals within a very calculated time of their release. Therefore, I really don't understand why someone with brain to excuse him from not playing a key role in their release. No recommendation(s) was to the Privy Council by leader to rule against the relase...something is not right here.

observer, let it be known,i am not a damn fool as you make me out to be.you implied that tillman gave-in to political pressure and released the gang of 17.your next posting says you did not accuse tillman of releasing them.now you saying that he as a leader should have demanded the privy council re-consider.again,i would like gc visitors and contributors to re-read your last few postings and judge for themselves the statements you made.and observer, these are my last comments on the gang of 17:in no way shape or form did i ever support their release.as i said before, they should have been hung long ago.i also said rightly or wrongly,we have the privy council in our system.they made a decision to release and we have to live with it.i also said tillman will answer to the voters for employing some of the gang.now observer,if your brain that small that you can't understand my position, what else can i say.I WILL MAKE NO MORE COMMENTS ON THE GANG OF 17.WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS THAT ARE AFFECTING US.
