NNP LAUNCHES TEAM LEADER FOR ST. DAVID
Tuesday 31st January 2012: The New National Party (NNP) has officially launched its Team Leader for the Constituency of St David, Mr. Gabriel Henry. Mr. Henry was introduced as the NNP Caretaker of the Constituency/Team Leader on Sunday at the NNP’s Massive Rally at the La Tante Junction. Thousands of green clad supporters flooded the venue as various speakers brought greetings from other constituencies including fellow new comers to front line politics Mrs. Alexandra Otway Noel from South St. George, Mr. Nickolas Steele from the Town of St. George and Mr. Alvin Dabreo from the Constituency of St. John. All three bemoaned the lack of basic necessities for their constituents and the lack of interest by the present NDC parliamentarians in the welfare of the people who placed them in office. Welcoming those gathered to the activity was former Member of Parliament for the constituency of St. David between 1999 – 2003 Mr. Joslyn Whiteman who spoke of the various roads and bridges as well as other projects done by the NNP in their time in office. While President of the NNP Women’s Arm Ms. Janis Cuffie also spoke of the plight of the people of St. David under the NDC as she introduced the man who the NNP Constituency Branch of St. David have elected to lead the NNP charge come the next general election. Mr. Henry spoke of the many problems faced by the people of St. David including lack of assistance to farmers and fishermen and provision of health care. He also spoke of the need for more infrastructural projects in the constituency and for the restoration of the safety net programs which were introduced by the NNP. The New National Party has won the St. David Constituency twice before in the 1984 General Election immediately after the collapse of the People’s Revolutionary Government and in the 1999 General Election during the 15 seat landslide victory. Mr. Henry echoed the sentiments of previous speakers that all Grenadians should immediately seek to have themselves registered to ensure that they are able to vote when the next General Elections are called. He particularly emphasized the new registrants should get themselves registered as soon as possible.
