The management, staff and students of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School wishes to thank the New York Alumni for providing much needed furniture for the students of form one. In recent years, the number of students enrolled at the school has been steadily increasing. This increase in the student population has placed a severe strain on the school funds as management strived to procure furniture. As a result of this challenge the school was forced to seek help elsewhere. However, due to the economic recession, these efforts were proven to be futile. As such many of our classrooms were empty or inadequately furnished. This led to constant conflicts and disagreements among students over the scarce furniture. Thankfully, the New York Alumni heard our plight and responded by sponsoring twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) worth of wooden furniture. This furniture has been assigned to the four groups of first form students. According to one of these students, ‘we are now much more comfortable and do not have the added stress of searching for furniture on mornings. The contribution towards the furniture, though seen as a small gesture by some, to the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School it is indeed a very thoughtful act. The new furniture has contributed significantly to the school’s environment. Apart from adding to the physical structure, it has made it easier for teachers to manage classes, reduced the occurrences of minor squabbles and has made the classroom environment more conducive to learning. As a school, we are now better able to forge on to accomplish our vision ‘To become a model institution, which provides a quality education programme capable of meeting the diverse needs of students. Once again, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the New York Alumni for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Your contribution has made school much more comfortable for our entire student population.
