GRENADA MOVING FORWARD WITH NEW HOSPITAL
ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA Friday, October 26, 2012: Following the announcement of the results of the Request for Qualification process for the Grenada Replacement Hospital PPP, in which the Government declared Balfour Beatty Capital Inc. as the only qualified bidder, the Government of Grenada is now pleased to announce that it will advance the process through a negotiation with Balfour Beatty Capital Inc. The aim of the negotiation will be to conclude an agreement for the delivery of the Replacement Hospital. Balfour Beatty Capital Inc. was selected as the only qualified bidder after the evaluation of four submissions following the issuance of a Request for Qualifications on July 6, 2012. Prior to this, the Government received nine expressions of interest in response to the issuance of a Request for Expressions of Interest on January 24, 2012. The Request for Qualifications was open to all interested parties, and not restricted only to those who expressed interest. The project is Grenada’s first PPP for health infrastructure and covers the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of a new state of the art public health care facility. The New Hospital is intended to elevate the quality of health care in Grenada and position the Country for medical tourism opportunities. The Government of Grenada is being advised on this PPP by the International Finance Corporation.

GRENADA MOVING FORWARD WITH NEW HOSPITAL
This is long over due. Over forty years ago when I was a student nurse at the general hospital I heard of the propose rebuilding of the hospital which was to be constructed on Marass Hill. I can assure you that with a state of the art hospital many more older Grenadian like myself will not hesitate to return home to retire.

This is very good news for our people of spice isle and her sister islands but it should be said here that government should not use this project as a political /election tool as was done by the last government wxample the stadium and the purpose of such a state of the art hospital should be to facilate the ungently needed health care and medical needs here in grenada for all our people here in spice isle and lastly government and its planners should be minded that such hospital should be built in an area central to the usage of the people living on the far western side as to those living on the far southern side of grenada and we all hope and pray that at long last we will have a hospital fit for our princess and prince in their time of need here in grenada and is long overdue .
