TRIVIA CHALLENGE  
Sunday, May 19, 2013 Holy Cross Auditorium located at 2520 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, was bubbling with activity on Sunday May 19th. The event was the Trivia Challenge Competition sponsored by the Education Committee (EC) of GRENCAP United Inc. The weather was very much to everyone's disadvantage, having rained throughout the entire day, but despite the inclement weather parents, families, friends and well wishers were present to witness the evening’s proceedings. The highlight of the proceedings was the Trivia Challenge Competition between two teams from the School for Human Rights of George Wingate Campus. The Students were quizzed on The Human Body Systems and Social Studies. Their responses were quick, accurate and exciting. Moderators for this segment were Mr. Kenny Bain - Human Body Systems, and Mr. Rudolph Cyrus - Social Studies. Miss Grenada/USA, Kizzi Belfon did the Bonus Round which comprised of questions on Grenada, Carriacou & Petite Martinique. Other performances included a Poem entitled "That's Life" which was done by eight young students ranging in ages from five years to eleven years. Other performers included Jonathan Duncan, winner of the 2009 Independence Trivia Challenge who delivered the Spoken Word - "Saggin Pants", while Jacqueline Adams, 2nd Runner-up in the Miss Grenada/USA delivered her rendition of "These Hands". The Rock Star Boyz from Carriacou roused the crowd with their dance and rhythmical movements. The group is managed by Mrs. Marlene Bedeau. It was an evening of excitement, exhilaration education and information. The event was well accepted by the appreciative audience, and Mr. Michael Vincent who the Master of Ceremony for the occasion brought life and vigor to the evening's event with his vivacious energy and humor. Mr. Errol Millington performed the task of Tabulator with assistance from Mr. Michael Alexander, Principal of the School for Human Rights. Speakers at the event included, Mr. Derrick James, Honorary Consul General, Mr. Roy McKenzie, President of GRENCAP United, and Mr. Michael Alexander. The Welcome remarks were done by Ms Cicely Mason, Chair of the EC Committee while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Kenny Bain. The Anthems were beautifully rendered by Ms. Petlin Morris. The E.C. Committee is made up of Ms. Cicely Mason, Mrs. Beverly Bain, Mr. Kenny Bain, Ms. Denise Roberts, Ms. Kizzi Belfon and Dr. Earl Clarkson, who donated the Challenge Trophy for the Trivia Competition. Towards the end of the event, it was disclosed that Team One won over Team Two with a score of 277 points to 179. Every participant was presented with two Certificates of Recognition, one from Mr. Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President, and the other from New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams.
