BURKE IS NEW NDC LEADER
Nazim Burke, the former Grenada finance minister, has assumed leadership of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He easily defeated former education minister Franka Bernardine during elections held at Sunday’s party convention. Burke replaces former Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, who did not seek reelection as NDC leader. “I embrace this challenge with boundless enthusiasm,” Burke commented on his new role as leader. It’s was the NDC’s first convention since the expulsion of ten members, including former general secretary Peter David, in September 2012. Party infighting and dissatisfaction led many members and supporters to abandon the NDC, which suffered a humiliating 15 – 0 defeat by the New National Party (NNP) in general elections one year ago. Burke, who lost his seat in last year’s election, says NDC is now a different party with different persons. “I must apologize to those who have had distressful moments. I am willing to meet and discuss whatever were your complaints,” he said. “There are always differences in family, but we can come together and work things out.” Many former NDC supporters and members, including David, are now aligned to the governing NNP. David, a former foreign minister, is now an advisor to Prime Minister Keith Mitchell and accompanied him to a regional meeting in Cuba last week. Source: carib news

BURKE IS NEW NDC LEADER
Nazim Burke, although The Observer is not a supporter of you, I commend you for taking one of the most difficult task of leading a very distressed and fragmented political party that is going to need at least 10 years to make a comeback. Nevertheless, I don't see you as an objective, transparent and...leader. To begin with, you were deeply involved in the elimination of Grenada's most altruistic leader...one we never see again. You very well knew what happened to Maurice's corps and failed to assist with such recovery. You played a major role in the release of Bernard and Phyllis Coard, Bogo, release and employment of Hudson Austin and Cecil Prime, Selwyn Strachan Ventura and other members of Gang 17. If you consider your part played in the reconciliation and release of these men, why didn't you feel justifiable to seek out the truth of Maurice, his cabinet members and other fellow Grenadians' remains so that their families can rest in peace? Gabe, Keith Mitchell and his government are not the ones in sheep clothing...your newly NDC leader appears to be fitting more of that sort of character.

Now that the NDC family of brothers and sisters have spoken democratically andd elected its new leader it welcome you brother Nazim Burke to lead our into the next phase of our country ,and we hope and pray with gods blessings that he will guide you to lead our country in truth ,transparency, and accountability, away from those now running our country the current wolves in sheep clothing,Mr Burke it is said that a family that pray together, work together, eat together, fight together, argues together, laugh together will be united together, for in the past where there was discords within the family we did not work together for the common good of our people and our country as is now evidence with those who had once pledge their political loyalty to the ndc, but is now running with the wolves for it shows that the egoes and convictions of those people was misleading both politically and in truth and we pray for them,so once again congratulation to you ,your family and mostly the NDC brothers and sisters for selecting a winner and may we continue the campaign of preaching the truth and transparency to our suffering people here in grenada. Gob Bless.
