One of Carriacou’s historical sites and tourist attractions is being enhanced. Cleaning operations is in progress at Ningo Well; one of the earliest wells built on the island and located in the village of Tibeau. This is being done with assistance from members of the Royal Grenada Police Force along with tourism officials and employees of the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs. Marketing Executive at the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) Rina Mills said this is part of the overall tourism enhancement program for Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Plans are also in the making to fence the area and improve its surroundings through the construction of gazebos; which will lead to the development of a picnic area. Carriacou and Petite Martinique is often referred to as the “cradle of culture”, Mills said that the GTA will be working closely with cultural groups to ensure the unique cultural aspects of the island such as Shakespeare Mas and quadrille dance will be properly packaged and marketed.
