GRENADA EXPECTING $21.9 MILLION FIRST PAYMENT FROM IMF
GRENADA is expecting to receive about 21.9 million US dollars by month-end as the first disbursement of funds from the International Monetary Fund under the structural adjustment programme. In all, the government is expecting to received about 100 million US dollars over the next year from various donor agencies for a number of developmental projects and programmes. The board of the IMF is now set to meet on June 26, 2014 in Washington, where it is expected to approve Grenada's three-year economic revival programme. There is already a staff-level agreement between Grenada and IMF on the package. Subsequently, the required letter of intent was signed on June 12. The government of Grenada has embarked on a three-year programme that is aimed at leading the economy back to a path of sustainability, after a long period of high debt and low growth. While the government has been committed to taking the tough measures needed for the return of long-term economic viability, its stated policy is to continue to maintain its commitment to the workers of Grenada, as well as the poor and marginalized. The government has announced that it is expected to pay the next set of "back pay" to Grenadian workers by the end of the July. When this payment is made, it will mean the government would have paid $40 million to workers since it took office last year. The Grenada government is also maintaining its assistance levels to the poor and vulnerable. Source: gov.gd

I see that the Structural Adjustment Programme monies from the IMF and the World Bank is already making its way through to the poor in the form of hand outs by the minister of health in St Marks, by handing out yes energy saving light bulbs to some of the residents in Victoria ,question are the receivers selected or is it done at random ,you bet not well things must be looking up,for at least they are not worried about putting food on the table of the needy, but behold those receiving these bulds will be able to see better in the night at a lesser cost. Now somebody should tell Ms Claris C.Modeste that what Grenadians needs right now is Investors to create JOBS as was promise by your deceitful party during the last election, not bloody light bulbs for our people cannot eat light bulbs ,what our unemployed people wants is JOBS,and the return of some PRIDE in their lives and a little decency back into their lives which was taken away by your government since coming into office, minister what our people needs is a reduction in the massive tax burden placed upon them since your party took office. Minister since your party took office the lower tax payers in Grenada has seen their standard of living drop to nearly the bottom of the income league compared to their other neighbours in the Caribbean,Minister our low income earners is now paying taxes twice as much as that of some of your big shots supporters as was said by the Pm recently in a forum at that school in St Patrick and as he said more so than some of your wealthy supporters earning Us$15,000 a month,Minister how the hell do you and your fellow ministers sleep at night knowing the pain and suffering our people is going through since your party came into power ,minister when ,oh when will we our people be free from these massive financial burdes placed upon them because of your party reckless borrowing without a cat in hell chance of meeting the repayment to our creditors and which will be a noose around our people neck for years to come. Minister where are those investors your party promise during the last election?
