GRENADA SIGNS NEW AGREEMENT FOR MORE CHINESE HOUSES
With housing being an urgent need on the island, Housing Minister, Hon. Delma Thomas has disclosed that Government has signed new agreements for additional houses from the Peoples Republic of China. Minister Thomas said Grenada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Clarice Modeste Curwen, has already signed an agreement with the Peoples Republic of China to begin putting structures in place for the construction of over six hundred new housing units that will form part of the second batch of the Chinese low income housing project. She said a Chinese delegation is expected in Grenada next month to begin the assessment. “In March we would see a team of persons coming down to look at the lands, and we will start the work some time later on. I do not want to give you a deadline because these things take time,” Minister Thomas said. The Housing Minister said another one thousand units are in the pipeline. “There’s also another one thousand houses that we have negotiated for from the Chinese again and that too will be in a second phase,” she said. Minister Thomas said government recognizes housing as a real and urgent need and as such commits itself to doing what it can to help. “Every day we have scores of persons coming into the Ministry looking for housing and therefore we as a government are aware that we have to do a lot more,” Minister said. The distribution of the first batch of houses began last week Thursday at the Mt. Gay site, and many homeowners already received the keys to their units. “Maybe if you go to the site you would see that some people are cleaning up and preparing to move in..,” Minister Thomas said. The twenty units at Frequente will be distributed at on Thursday, February 12 at 10:00 A.M. Source: gov.gd

GRENADA SIGNS NEW AGREEMENT FOR MORE CHINESE HOUSES
Good news on the Homes front for our low income earners being given by the PRC Government as proclaim by Ms Thomas and our foreign Minister Mrs Modeste ,but is it FREE and here is another thing is it not right that this project not part of the last government programme with the said PRC, but with the incoming of Mitchell Government things was held up for reasons unknown as with the bus terminal in Grenville and the markets in Grenville and St,Georges, now behold it seems that suddenly everthing is now flowing free ,and the million dollar question i am asking are is this Mitchell Government playing tricks on our poor unsuspecting voters here in Grenada, thus giving the impression that everything good that was or is currently taking place in Grenada is made possible because of the NNP and Mitchell Government which is far from the truth and therefore i call upon the opposition party to get their act together and put your side of the story re these projects for which the current Government is claiming all the credits.

Gabe, the practice is common. It's has always happened in the past: every succeeding government benefits of the efforts made by its predecessor. Unfortunately to you, Dr. Mitchell's administration is being benefactor of programs that have been started 20 or so years ago. Sadly, Tillman Thomas was not aggressive enough to keep his government intact and lacked innovation, collectivity and full support amongst his colleagues which led to his downfall.

Bro.The Observer my point here is that when this government and in future i will stop saying the (Mitchell Government)puts out stories like the above,it gives the outsider and voters the impression that the last government was just sitting idly doing nothing and here is another picture it also holds our unsuspecting voters to ransom in their belief that the only party doing anything worthwhile for grenada is the NNP ,when in fact the last government had left grenada in a much healthier financial state than when they took over in 2008 from the NNP Government and that being said, what about as i previously mention the Markets in Grenville and St.georges, also the new bus terminal in Grenville etc,
