POLICE REMIND FIREARM HOLDERS TO RENEW LICENSES
The Royal Grenada Police Force is reminding all licensed firearm holders that the deadline for renewal of firearms has now ended. Persons who have not renewed their licenses as yet are urged to do so now. The RGPF is also reminding the general public persons that it is illegal for anyone to have in his or her possession any firearm and or ammunition without authorization from the appropriate authority. Persons who have opted not to have their firearm license renewed are advised to turn the firearm into the nearest police station or police headquarters for safekeeping. Failure to do so could result in the firearm being confiscated. Persons are also liable for prosecution in violation of the Firearms Act. The general public is also advised that persons wishing to dispose of or offer for sale any firearm must be do so in accordance with the law and involves an application which must be made in writing to the Commissioner of Police. POLICE REMIND FIREARM HOLDERS TO RENEW LICENSES
As a general public person i am extremely concern and flabbergasted as to the conduct and gun-management of our RGPF in reminding these GUN HOLDERS here in Grenada as to the law governing the holding of guns ,i say this because in this time of the electronic age ,why have these gun holders whose names the RGPF holds and not sending letters reminding them of their legal duty to the law knowing that the RGPF has in their possession records (names)of these gun holders, and the question i pose is who the HELL in Grenada is holding the register of these gun holders, yes i am back to transparency and accountability under this Mitchell Governmentas to who is running things here in Grenada.

Bro. Gabe, here you go again: unfortunately, you're questioning the legitimacy of the RGPF obligation to send reminder letters to gun holders on here in Grenada. Have you considered not all citizens/gun holders may have access to the internet, an accurate way of keeping track of registered firearms which can be later benchmarked against illegal guns out there, especially when a crime involving the use of a firearm is committed...have you considered the fact that people tend to forget at times...take the latter into consideration. It seems as though you're are attacking and attaching every issue here to Prime Minister Keith Mitchell. This is a security issue and the RGPF is addressing it on behalf of the people of Grenada and their security where guns are concerned. It's important to remember that Dr. Mitchell was overwhelmingly elected into office. Therefore, like it or not, he is the people's prime minister. And surely yours too.Yes, The Observer is back!

Bro.The observer welcome back ,you were missed ,but hey where have you been for your postings have always in my book something to cherish, now about this Gun law ,my good debating friend, i am always on case of this government knowing their past record and hey i am well aware that they were given a mandate so to speak at the last election ,now take for example this Gun Holders ( glad you mention the SECURITY ISSUES ),about renewing these gun holders registration and the RGPF ,man i am very serious about this subject matter ,and my concern is in the way the law is being enforce in Grenada especially as we now have all sorts of persons entering our country holding grenadian passport ,therefore one has to be concern where the upholding of Law is concern and that includes the upkeep of records re GUNHOLDERS IN OUR COUNTRY,for one only have to look at what is taking place in TRINIDAD,and JAMAICA,so The Observer please note thats where bro. gabe is coming from, always on the look out and i repeat i do not want to see grenada turning into another Trinidad or Jamacia when the the the usage of guns in the hands of criminals is all to free and easy with the rise in gun crimes..

Bro. Gabe, I respect and appreciate your views regarding the gun issue. Simultaneously, despite we are aware of loose guns out there, it's of paramount importance that the RGPF does whatever is possible to minimize and gain control of them-loose guns on the street. By ensuring proper registration of guns and their holders, most definitely be a way of at least gaining some form of control through benchmarking. As is seen in Trinidad and Jamaica, there's a lot of illegal guns that have been smuggled and sold on the black markets. If you don't want to see the same bandwagon here in Grenada, then the RGPF must ensure it's on top of the issue. Nevertheless, your love for country must be recognized.
