WEST INDIES OPENER SMASHES CRICKET WORLD CUP RECORD
West Indies opener Chris Gayle became the first batsman to score a double century in a World Cup innings when he reached the landmark against Zimbabwe in a Pool B clash in Canberra on Tuesday. Gayle, who might have been given out lbw before he had scored, brought up his first double century in 226 one-day internationals off just 138 balls including nine fours and 16 sixes, his last 50 runs coming off a mere 12 balls. It will go down as one of the most memorable World Cup moments in history and one cricket fans won’t forget anytime soon. It was the fastest double century of all time. The 35-year-old Jamaican left-hander's innings surpassed the previous World Cup best of 188 not out by South Africa's Gary Kirsten against the United Arab Emirates at Rawalpindi in 1996. It was also only the fifth double century in all ODI cricket and the first by a non-Indian, with Rohit Sharma (two), Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag the only other batsmen to achieve the feat. West Indies won the match by 73-runs and produced their highest team score of 372 in One Day history as well as the highest One Day team score in Australia, and fifth highest team score in World Cups. WEST INDIES OPENER SMASHES CRICKET WORLD CUP RECORD
Gabe, cricket, especially in the Caribbean region has lost its momentum. Our players of the 80s, 70s and 60s give us something to look forward to whenever the season began. And something to look forward to when it ended. West Indies cricket standards under Brian Laura suffered. The integrity and expected behaviors of the players drastically went under. For example, whenever the players were in tour-to England, India, South Africa, etc., they wounded up in bars, parties, porn shops, redistrict areas, and attempting to win the hearts of prostitutes while their host-counterparts remained in their hotel rooms reviewing past matches, examining West Indies bowling and batting styles...looking for weakness and ways to ensure that they don't succumb to a bunch of pussy chasing-hungry grown men. Our West Indies cricket team needs a lesson on sportsmanship, professionalism and business etiquettes. I assume if the majority of them had a formal education, the game would be better respected. The Observer refuses to pay his money to see another game. The public needs to demand more of these "frack" hunting fools.

When i read stories like the above ,it reminds me of the Brian laura Factor ,i say this because here was a cricketer player the world and some of our caribbean cricket lovers was lauding over with words like great, yes mr Laura was a brilliant cricketer, just like Mr Gayle ,but history wil now show that these two players were in it for themselves and the money and the glory ,for one can remember the cheers that went up when Mr Laura smash his way through that record breaking run go getter same like the brother Gayle ,who smash his way through that record two hundred plus in the Icc world ODI,now just a few days later ,yes we are back to the same old story as was displayed against South AFRICA today, and now i do believe it is time that our Caribbean head of the cricketing board resign en-block and bring in some fresh faces ,yes people who have represented the west indies cricket with pride, and who was feared through the cricket world for our desire and committment to the cause of the beautiful game of cricket ,but alas today we are becoming the laughing stock of world cricket for we are no longer feared by anyone what a dammed shame.
