MORE CARIBBEAN LEADERS APPRECIATE LINK BETWEEN TECHNOLO...
Grenada Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell says more Caribbean leaders are starting to appreciate the link between science and technology and economic growth. Mitchell is expected to take the recommendations from the just concluded Caribbean Community (CARICOM) technology meeting before the next regional summit in July. “The regional leadership is at the point now where we clearly understand that we have no choice,” Mitchell said. “I think I have been championing this issue for a while now and I think we are getting there, more and more leaders are accepting the absolute responsibility to push this much more than we have done before,” he added. Figures show several countries from Rwanda to Colombia that invest more of their GDP in technology have been seeing the rewards of their investment. “In all the countries that have done well, such as Singapore and Colombia, one fundamental characteristic of their development and thrust has been in the use of technology,” Mitchell explained. Mitchell pointed out that the region must follow the example of countries with success stories in science and technology. Source: carib news
