MINISTER OF SPORTS COMMENDS KIRANI JAMES AND TEAM ON WO...
Minister of Youth Sport and Religious Affairs, Honorable Emmalin Pierre has sent her congratulations to Kirani James on his performance at the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) Word Championships. James a native of Gouyave, St. John was unsuccessful in re-capturing the title he lost in 2013 to the immediate former champion LaShawn Merrit of the USA. He was able though to secure third position on the podium with a time of 43.78s a season best performance. In a brief statement the Sports Minister said: “Kirani has once again done his best while representing the people of his beloved Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. While on this occasion he was not able to take the top position he is always number one in the hearts of each and every Grenadian. Grenada’s youth are indeed honored to have Kirani James as a role model of what a person with determination, focus and humility can achieve. I congratulate as well his parents and family as well as his coach and support team whom I know will continue to work along with him for his continued development. The Government of Grenada and indeed the Ministry of Sport will continue to be of service in any way possible to assist Kirani, as we all look forward to the 2016 Olympic Games.” Kirani James will be defending his Olympic Title in August 2016, in Rio, Brazil. MINISTER OF SPORTS COMMENDS KIRANI JAMES AND TEAM ON WO...
This is an open letter to our Minister of sports etc. Dear Minister Emmalin Pierre,on behalf of Grenadians in the diaspora, we wish to strongly complain as to the treatment and non-response being given to those fun raisers in the diaspora, and as the Minister of sports who is responsible for the advancement of sport in Grenada and her Tri-Island States,it seems that you and your office have completely ignored those in the diaspora who have been fund raising and working tirelessly over the years which started under our last Hc here in London and Mrs Debbie Bryant since 2012 with cook -ups,fun walking, boat trips etc,to assist in the advancement of our future athletics in achieving their dreams, but sad to say that every attempt made by members of the fund raising committee to make contact with the minister or her office either by phone or email have been met with to say the least silence or a non response, and so we are left to wonder as to weather our minister and our Government is serious about the contributions being made by those Grenadians and friends of Grenada in the diaspora in doing something to advance our futrue Grenadian athletics Thank you,and we await your kind response.
