GRENADA TO HOST BENEFIT CONCERT FOR STORM-DAMAGED DOMIN...
The people of Dominica are to benefit from a major fund-raising concert scheduled for Saturday, November 7. A special planning committee has been commissioned by Hon. Brenda Hood the minister responsible for Culture and the Performing Arts. The committee is charged with the responsibility to put plans together for the event which is expected to showcase a number of performing artistes and local live bands. Several local artistes, bands and service providers have already pledged their support to the initiative. The planning committee held its first meeting on Monday, September 7, and discussed the way forward in executing the event to ensure maximum participation from the general public. The cultural senator made the call for persons to give back to the people of Dominica who have been badly affected following the passage of tropical storm Erica. She reflected on the support that Dominica offered to Grenada after the passage of hurricane Ivan some eleven years ago on September 7, 2004, and indicated that it is only fitting to give back to the people of Dominica during their struggles at this time. All performers and service providers are asked to provide their support to the event that is expected to see a large turnout of Grenadians who are known for their support to our regional brothers and sisters in their time of need. Minister Hood informed the meeting that the Government is fully supportive of the initiative and that the Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell made similar remarks at the recently held ‘after carnival’ symposium. Full-fledged marketing and promotion of the event will commence within the next week and patrons are asked to stay tuned for updates on ticket availability. The event is being planned for the National Stadium with an expected turn out of over 5,000 persons. Persons wishing to contribute and or offer assistance can contact the secretariat on telephone number 435-2839. Tropical Storm Erika left a trail of destruction in Dominica, severely damaged infrastructure like roads and the Douglas-Charles Airport and killed 20 people. Source: gov.gd

GRENADA TO HOST BENEFIT CONCERT FOR STORM-DAMAGED DOMIN...
Good morning Grenada and our Tri-Islands states brothers and sisters ,yesterday morning i woke up and saw the latest disaster to befall our people in The Town that never sleep my beloved Gouyave, yes i am talking about the HUBBLE BRIDGE ,yes that Bridge,a bridge that is used by locals ,to go about their daily business,a bridge that is also used by our school children going to and back to the Catholic School, and the St.Rose Convent, now is it not time our so-call Government of the people get off their backside and do something worthwhile for the very people who voted for them at the last election? and got them back into power. and now that we have sorted out this concert thing for the sad people of Dominica lets now turn our attention to doing something to help our own and i am calling on Minister Alvin Dabreo who was voted in by the unsuspecting people of Gouyave to get off your cosy chair and repay the good people of Gouyave and do something in gods name ,yes get that damm bridge fit and put the resouces into getting this important people bridge fix in the same way your government is spening million of dollars on that play thing Stadium in Town. Now here is another disturbing story and it is a story coming from our General Hospital and as in every story there is always two sides to a story, and it is this ,someone who by chance was visiting a sick child in the kids Pediatric ward just happens to notice some kids breathing masks (you know the ones that is used to assist children and sometimes adult in their breathing )hanging out to dry in an area on some rusty railings which is completely unhygienic, and if that story is correct,i am calling on the minister for Health Mr Steele to do something urgently for this is the life of our children your ministry is playing with and remember that this hospital is suppose to be a modern hospital in the 2015 not 1930 so please do something.

It is always pleasing to know that in times of sadness ,such as the Hurricane Erika which came upon the Commonwealth of Dominica and her people, it is right we as a people should reach out to the people of that country, that being said it is right that such gesture should be done in a manner that must be seen for humanitarian reasons by the Government and people of Grenada and not by the NNP Political Party, nor should it be seen as political spins, because Governments have a way of using such gestures as political Spins.
