SUPPORT WHAT'S MADE IN GRENADA—BUY LOCAL WEEK
The problem here in grenada is that system that were in place put there by the late brother Bishop where Made in Grenada was championed throughout the country was sad to say eroded by successive incoming Government in favour of cheap foreign import with government tax assistance now today with the price of oil droping like flies in a drum of syrup and ,plus the near demise of what little manufacturing we once had here in Grenada,so i applaude such idea but also hope that this is not another of this Government spin machine in operation to give the impression that they are doing something to assist for getting that the Mitchell Nnp party have been in and out of Government for the past 30 plus years and in each of their term in office our manufacturing industry have been steadly declining due to lact of government participation /investment in favour of the Tourism industry, hence their call to the nation for this quote "Support whats Made in Grenada" Yes after 30 or so years in and out of office this government is now calling us Grenadians to Support whats Made in Grenada and to buy Local after years of flooding grenada with cheap foreign imports. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.

Obviously the Support Made in Grenada project is an effort to bring some form of economic viability and self dependence in the country. The question though is this: what products are made in Grenada? We Grenadians, especially the grassroots sect tend to be too dependent on the droppings from the table. We rely too much on what our relatives, family and friends living abroad can give to us or more realistically, send for us. Our governments have not taught us to be industrious. How many factories are in Grenada? Countries like the Dominican Republic have marketed and sold their local products in the USA. For example, a 16 fl.oz. bottle of coconut water from the Dominican Repiblic sells for $3.75 US. Why can't we do the same? The answer is mainly because our governments have not seen the big picture. They rely on the tourism industry as the main source of revenue for our economy, and they have consistently taxed the middle class heavily when they import personal items. We need to think, plan, and start to manufacture and export our local commodities and develop a manufacturing base because those are the only ways our country would become self sufficient.

Bro Jude you have summarise in full the issues we face in Grenada ,first we have this Grenada government which talks about investors coming to Grenada to investors and that they are all queing up to come to grenada to spread their money around investing in our people wellbeing, well sad to say that is not what is now happening, and what is real is that our Heritage lands is being given away free to some of these so called Hotel investors as a prelude and that some of these investors will come up with some real investment that would see some of our many hundreds of unemployed people young and old being given the opportunity to obtain some self respect for the sacrifice they made in returning this government back into office, but behold all this government is interested in are their friends in the Tourism sector.
