SUMMARY OF MDC'S CXC CSEC 2016 PERFORMANCE  
Marli, St. Patrick_ 79 students_ 37 males and 42 females registered for the May/June CXC CSEC Examinations in 25 subject areas. Of the 79 students registered, 14 were second year students. There were 460 subject entries. The largest entries were in English A, 52, Social Studies, 42, and Agricultural Science, 39. The lowest entries were in Visual Arts, 1, Principles of Accounts and Building Technology (Construction) Technical, 8, and Physics and Chemistry, 9. There were 29 grade ones, 83 grade twos, 197 grade threes, 103 grade fours, 32 grade fives, 1 grade six and 15 ungraded or absent. The 29 grade ones were across twelve subjects. Physical Education received the highest percentage of grade ones 63.64%, Principles of Business 28.57% and English A, 11.54%. The percentage pass rate increased from 63.33% in 2015 to 69.44% in 2016. The subjects with the highest percentage pass were Building Technology Construction (Woods), Physical Education and Visual Arts which received 100% pass. Physical Education was the only subject which maintained its 100% pass rate. In 2015 four subjects recorded 100% pass. Seven subjects: Food and Nutrition, Biology, Principles of Business, English A, Caribbean History, Technical Drawing and Spanish, had a pass rate of 80% or more. The subjects in the Technical Department recorded the best performance with an average pass rate of 84.82%. Thirteen subjects recorded an increase in their pass rate with Caribbean History recording the greatest increase of 60.82%, moving from 21% to 81.82%. Other significant increases were recorded in Physics, which went up by 31.44%, Biology by 27%, and Geography and Chemistry by just over 18%. The subjects with the lowest percentage pass were French, which went down from 25% in 2015 to 8.33% in 2016, English B, which went up from 20% in 2015 to 26.67%, Mathematics and Chemistry which were 32.14% and 33.33% respectively. Office Administration recorded the most significant decline. The performance decreased by 31.58% from 100% in 2015 to 68.42% in 2016, Integrated Science went from 73% to 42.86% and BTC (Construction) from 77% to 50%. The performance in mathematics which declined by almost 15% was below the national average of 38.23%. Conversely, English A’s performance was almost 20% above the national average of 64.36%. Students attained an average of 4 subjects. Eleven students including Angus Fletcher, Olivia Mc lean and Judah Matthew passed all of the subjects sat.
