GRENADA PLANS TO REOPEN BORDERS AUGUST 1
The government of Grenada has announced a phased approach to the reopening of its borders, promoting a smooth, systematic and safe process. Borders reopen for regional travel on July 15 and for international passengers from August 1. For the reopening process, countries will be categorized as low-, medium- or high-risk, for the purposes of entry requirements to Grenada. The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has detailed the protocols for travelers into Grenada in an official comprehensive document for each of the three categories. All travelers must complete, sign and submit a health declaration form and download and register on Grenada’s contact tracing app. Travelers will be required to pay for quarantine reservations and testing in Grenada. According to the "Protocol for Travelers into Grenada" document, CARICOM (Caribbean Community) countries fall under the low-risk category: “Countries where there is no known community transmission or where the epidemiology of the region or country is considered favorable or low-risk.” Canada, the European Union and U.K. are among the medium-risk countries; all passengers must have a certified copy of a negative PCR test, dated no more than seven days prior to departure, in addition to a rapid test upon arrival at the airport. Travelers from high-risk countries will be allowed to travel to Grenada only be chartered flights until further notice. They are required to provide a certified negative PCR test, undergo a rapid test upon arrival, followed by a mandatory quarantine for up to 14 days; all quarantine accommodations must be approved by the Ministry of Health. The United States is classified as a high-risk country. In Grenada, the coronavirus was successfully contained by closing borders since March 22, imposing a limited state of emergency, social distancing, the wearing of face coverings and screening and testing. The island, presently, has had no active cases of COVID-19 since June 18 with only 23 positive cases recorded. As of July 8, the curfew has been lifted in the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Peitite Martinique. Source: TAC
