PRIME MINISTER VISITS WITH OSCAR BARTHOLOMEW'S WIFE
ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 4 JANUARY, 2012_ Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has assured Mrs. Dolette Bartholomew, the widow of Oscar Bartholomew, who died as a result of an incident at a police station in St. David on Boxing Day, that his office will ensure that the investigation into the death of her husband will be thorough, complete and professional. The Prime Minister gave the assurance to Mrs. Bartholomew and other members of her husband’s family during a meeting at their home in Grand Anse, on Wednesday evening, Mr. Thomas, who is also responsible for National Security, extended his condolences to the family and said he was “greatly saddened” at the incident. “This is a regrettable tragedy and a painful experience for you, for his extended family and for all of us in Grenada. Our first priority is to ensure that the investigation is transparent and that justice prevails,” the Prime Minister told Mrs. Bartholomew, who was accompanied by her lawyer, Derick Sylvester. “We will take all the necessary steps to ensure, if at all possible, that this situation is never repeated in Grenada,” the Grenadian leader told Mrs. Bartholomew, acknowledging that the wide spread publicity given to the death of her husband has affected Grenada’s image as a law abiding country where the rights of people are respected. “I have many friends in Grenada and we came here for a visit with family and friends, not for this. All I want to see is justice,” Mrs. Bartholomew told the Prime Minister. The Grenadian leader has called for a review of the policy governing persons held in police custody, to ensure that they are treated appropriately.

Don't understand how we are independent and the head of state is the "queen" millions of miles out of the country and the police dept is stills start with "royal" someone enlighten me please! I like Jamaica's approach to go solo. I hope we can adopt a way to go solo also, since we were always home alone. Might as well put it on paper.

Well the Queen knows and understands us,the put plenty of time and energy in studying the way we think and act,While we jam, whine, giggle, and talk bad about each other these people put things and people in place to have us stupid and backward,to call us third world country, everything that was put in place by the Queen and others to for us to remain their subjects, even China learned the game and will use it on us,when will we learn?when will we understand that we are the only ones that can determine our destiny?we cannot live our furture in others hand and expects to get justice and to see progress. The younger generation understands that we are hoping and praying and they cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, then we wonder why they are behaving that way.To much games and the reality is these politicans donot care, they just want to line their pockets and their friends and family.

I have no comment. Observer, I wish I can shake your hand insted of commenting on your blog. Got to agree, "The nonsense got to stop". Is the media that controlled by the government also that things like that cannot be publisized, to reach a broader branch than local government. Or is it illegal to put the ignorance of our officals under the bus. As the so called queen is the head of state. She needs to step in to protect citizens from such iltreatment or at least have strict rules to police the police and oficials either policital or judiciary. If I'm wrong, someone inform me. Observer, 100% in point. Need another 50% or more observers in the population to bring better.

Good morning Royr. I just wanted to applaud you for standing up to our PM and requesting that he do convey similar sympathies with the victims of Hudson Austin, Bernard Coard, Phyllis Coard, Leon "Bogo" Cornwall, Cecil Prime, Kennedy Budhall, Ventura and many of the ex-police officers who have killed, maimed and victimized innocent law abiding (not guilty after being proven)Grenadans. We also need a reopening and reinvestigation of past RGPF abuse cases. We need to bring these people to trial.
