OPPOSITION LEADER CALS FOR CALM
St. George’s, Grenada – January 10th 2012: Former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, commenting on the events following the death of Mr. Oscar Bartholomew said, "No one could deny the pain and disappointment the nation is justly feeling at this time as the country continues to witness an outpouring of emotions from the people especially the residents of St David, over the death of Mr. Oscar Bartholomew on December 27th under tragic circumstances." Dr Mitchell continue by saying, " While no amount of sympathy, no amount of tribute will bring back Mr. Bartholomew to us, we must give his wife, children, his mother and other family members, relatives and friends all the support as they mourn. As a party, we will continue to stand with them during this difficult time." Being mindful of the expressions of deep passion and anxiety displayed by many who have been directly or indirectly affected by the death, He commented “We take this moment to call on all concerned for calm, to exercise restraint and allow an independent investigation to be conducted free from all pressures. As a Christian people we must all be reminded that this incident is a tragedy for the country, a tragedy for the family of Oscar Bartholomew and a tragedy for the young police officers who are accused and their immediate family.” Dr. Mitchell is also appealing to the general public during this period of mourning to refrain from maligning and attacking the Royal Grenada Police Force as an organization. He said the RGPF regardless of the current circumstances is still the organization responsible for our security, defense and the protection of our democracy. The Former Prime Minister again appeals to all concern especially the Prime Minister and Minister for National Security to ensure that an independent and transparent investigation is conducted.

Gabe, it's the same thing they said about our Peace Minister Maurice Bishop prior to his barbaric death. Whenever someone sees things differently and begin to think outside the box, the most of you tend to have a problem with him/her. Yes, I am a dangerous man. I speak the truth and it sure offends you and many. I encourage you to bring something constructive to table and let's address the real issue. Leave NNP and Keith Mitchell out of the discourse and let's get to the facts. The only contributions you tend to add is the criticism of Keith Mitchell week in and week out.

Gabe, there you go again. Please remember the heineous and barbaric attack and murder of Oscar has touched many people and the often stereotypical insults they usually experience on their return to visit family and friends. No one is bad mouthing Grenada. People are speaking their minds, sharing their experiences of insults, threats ans mistreatment they often suffer when visiting us here. Please stop blaming the victims. A lot of them were lucky to have escape similar fate of our dear brother. The reasons leading to the murder of Oscar is way beyond politics. In fact, it because of people like you with hate, jealousy, envy, if it's not me it should not be you, crabs in the barrel mentality that have caused diaspora Grenadians to become frustrated with the way they normally treated when they return home. Give these people a break. They are not ill talking Grenada. They're simply stating the facts of the majority of people's behavior here in Grenada.

Observance like you i welcome the opposition leader response to the tragic loss of life of one of our fellow grenadian brother who was here on a visit FROM CANADA to his homeland with his family ,and that being said it is now time for both government and opposition to put out a joint statement condeming thoes morans within our communities who is hell bent on destroying the good name of our beloved country with their bad mouthing and vulger language and name calling for in the past politicians of all colours have used that same method as a way of inciting our voters with their bad mouthing of other politicans take for example the reign of Eric Gairy, yes that was his trade mark and it is high time that we return to decency and respect when addressing each other in and out of political life, and although i do not always agree with your policies,Mr Mitchell here i say well done Mr Mitchell and lets hope that you have now set the tone and example and hope that others will now follow, because the rest of the world is watching us.
