OPPOSITION LEADER CALS FOR CALM
St. George’s, Grenada – January 10th 2012: Former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, commenting on the events following the death of Mr. Oscar Bartholomew said, "No one could deny the pain and disappointment the nation is justly feeling at this time as the country continues to witness an outpouring of emotions from the people especially the residents of St David, over the death of Mr. Oscar Bartholomew on December 27th under tragic circumstances." Dr Mitchell continue by saying, " While no amount of sympathy, no amount of tribute will bring back Mr. Bartholomew to us, we must give his wife, children, his mother and other family members, relatives and friends all the support as they mourn. As a party, we will continue to stand with them during this difficult time." Being mindful of the expressions of deep passion and anxiety displayed by many who have been directly or indirectly affected by the death, He commented “We take this moment to call on all concerned for calm, to exercise restraint and allow an independent investigation to be conducted free from all pressures. As a Christian people we must all be reminded that this incident is a tragedy for the country, a tragedy for the family of Oscar Bartholomew and a tragedy for the young police officers who are accused and their immediate family.” Dr. Mitchell is also appealing to the general public during this period of mourning to refrain from maligning and attacking the Royal Grenada Police Force as an organization. He said the RGPF regardless of the current circumstances is still the organization responsible for our security, defense and the protection of our democracy. The Former Prime Minister again appeals to all concern especially the Prime Minister and Minister for National Security to ensure that an independent and transparent investigation is conducted.

Winston Garraway, it's refreshing to see you back. However, I was shocked to not have seen your name mentioned in the Keith Mitchell-NNP's minister manifesto make up. In several of your postings you labeled yourself as the Minister of Labor. Whnat wnet wrong between you and Keith Mitchell, pastor? Did Keith find better qualified people to replace you pastor? Or were you simply an embarrassment to the party?

Stallion, I drop in to congratulate you on your most recent posting. In my view it is very balance and I support it fully. I feel encouraged when I see such posting. It reminds me of some meetings I had with the EDITORS of the NEW TODAY news paper. I discussed with them the importance of putting Grenada first. They agreed with me that after all is said and done politicians will come and go but Grenada remains, therefore its our duty to protect it for our children.

Stallion, as a GC contributor, I expect everyone of us, irrespective of party affiliation to maintain an non-bias, impartial and objective attitude in our discourse regarding Tillman Thomas and Keith Mitchell. I will continue to challenge Gabe on those principles. We are that mirror to our future generations.

observer,i have read your posting and i have great respect for you too.however,i disagree with some points of your last posting.you say that gabe is bias towards tillman and unjustly oppose to keith mitchell.my friend,in this world,we are all different, including politicians.gabe is a staunch supporter of ndc,and he firmly believes that despite their shortcomings, the ndc is the right party to lead grenada.that may not be my or your opinion, but its a part of democracy when we all have our freedom to express our views.in regards to unjustly opposing keith mitchell, from since ndc won the last election, keith has been a torn in the ndc side from day one.we may not agree with that strategy, but that is the role of an opposition.that is to ensure checks and balances and keeping the government on their toes.the same thing applies to us as citizens.we have the right to object to a person or party if we do not agree with certain policies or principles.that may take the form of demonstrations or other peaceful protest.so when you say you will oppose gabe like a pitbull, you are somewhat trying to limit someone's free speech just because you don't agree with their opinions.i have debated with gabe, damond, sheila jones, among others, but the fact of the matter is we debate our different points, rather than attacking someone from giving their opinion.i truly hope you will continue to give constructive objective debate of the issues rather than singling out gabe to get your point across.
