Details:

Born as a twin, and the eldest girl of five; Antonia Lewis-Fletcher known to many as “Tone Tone” or “Tonia” was born to the late Agnes Mitchell and Harry Alleyene on July 3, 1939 in Beaulieu, St. Georges, Grenada W.I. She attended Beaulieu R.C. School and upon completion of school became a home maker and market vendor. In 1962, she married the late Hubert Lewis and together they were blessed with three children; Eslyn, Judy and Junior. They together remained in Beaulieu until she migrated to the United States in December 1973 where she lived and work diligently to provide for her family. After several years in the United States, Antonia married the late Edgar Fletcher and together they were blessed with one daughter, Shearene. Antonia was always a hard worker, she worked many jobs to make her ends meet. Two of her most prominent jobs were a baby sitter for the Moore family and a hotel trader worker for Sheraton New York, where she worked for over 40 years. Antonia’s faith in God never wavered as she was a long standing member of Our Lady of Victory R.C. Church. Even after being unable to attend church she always praised her God, read her “Daily Word” prayer book and listened to her gospel songs. She had a great love for music especially gospel and old time calypso. She took very good care of her records which she would often play while she cleaned the house. Her bed was always made and her living room was untouchable with the crisp plastic on her living room set. When not cleaning she would often be bopping her head to her favorite tunes, “One More Night” and “One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus”; watching soap opera or completing crossword puzzles. Antonia lived life to the fullest with the purest heart. She accepted and loved everyone who she encountered. She would give someone the clothes off her back and the food on her plate if she had to, to ensure they had. She would rather go without to ensure everyone in her family had. Everything she had she always divided; everyone got a “little piece” from the oldest to the youngest. On March 15, 2021, Antonia was called home. She was preceeded in death by her siblings, Leroy, and Raymond; and her son in law, Lawrence (Neil). She leaves to mourn two siblings, Shirley and Anthony; four children Eslyn, Judy(Cassandra), Junior(Kenny) and Shearene; seven grandchildren, Carrion, Samantha, Salyn, Lawrence (LJ), Jennifer, Maison, and Milanni; three great grand children, Shakiya, Shaneilla, and Kayden; two son in laws, Winston, and Darnell; one daughter in law Suelan; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends across the United States, Grenada, Canada, and the United Kingdom including but not limited to Magdeline Williams, Maria, Israel (Trevor), Ann, Joseph (Little Joe), Cynthia, Veronica, the Mitchell family of Mt. Cuma and Happy Hill, Alleyene, Woodroffe, Edwards, and Worme family; the Adolphus family in the USA; the Joseph family of Bellevue, the Hopkins family of Mt. Gay; and many more too many to mention to important to forget as well as her caretaker Joyce.

Heartfelt sympathy to Eslyn Lewis and family on the passing of your beloved mother. I pray for strength and comfort for you in this difficult time. I did not know your mom, but I have worked with Eslyn for many years, and from my interactions with her, and reading your mom's obituary, I can tell she was a selfless hardworking, caring, loving mother, just like Eslyn. May your mom sleep peacefully, and may you be of good courage. 🌹
