Special Info  Earlin Munroe was the first son of Virginia Marie Alexander and Lawrence Cardinal Munroe born in the Village of Mt Rodney, St Patrick's, Grenada.  He completed his elementary education at the St Patrick's Catholic School in Sauteurs.  After his school days, he apprenticed as a carpenter to learn his craft and specialized in cabinet making.  In 1956, Earlin decided to go to England, in search of a better life, leaving behind his children Marilyn Brown and Margaret Charles.  He was employed by Evershed's, where he attended night school to become a machinist.  He sent money home to his mother every month.  Soon he would be joined in England by his two younger brothers, Dennis, and Emmanuel.  Once he was established, he sent for his childhood sweetheart, Monica Brown, and they were married on February 22, 1958.  While living in London, they had a daughter, Sharon and a son, Samuel.  Earlin loved to play cricket with his club, the Invincibles.  His brothers said that he looked sharp when he wore his whites, although he could not bat very well. In July 1967, the young family immigrated to the United States, making their home in Brooklyn, New York.  Earlin was employed with Pfizer Pharmaceutical at their Brooklyn plant.  He worked diligently throughout his 29-year career, gaining the respect of plant management and colleagues alike.  As the Engineering Supervisor, his support and mentoring of young mechanics was unmatched.  Once again, he and Dennis were together working at the same facility and sharing a duplex, while they waited for Emmanuel to eventually rejoin them.  During this time Dianne, the youngest of the Munroe clan, was born. Earlin was a man of faith and loved to read the bible and sing his favorite hymns.  He was a devoted family man who fostered education in his children by making sure that they all attended college.  He instilled in them a love of their Caribbean roots by taking them 'Home' to Grenada.   Earlin loved growing roses and was immensely proud of his bountiful vegetable garden and shared the harvest with his neighbors and family.  If it had a seed, he could grow it.  He was an avid history buff, who loved watching documentaries and news from around the world.  He is a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Guiding Star Lodge #11 chapter. At age 62, Earlin retired from Pfizer with 29 years of service.  His goal was to return to his homeland after being abroad for more than forty years.  There he started his new venture, 'Birds from Paradise', raising chickens to bring fresh poultry to the island.  A gentleman farmer, he created jobs and opportunity in his village and managed the business until recently when his health declined.  He was a quiet man whose generosity and big heart were legendary.  When asked why he did not just 'sit down and rest', he explained that he knew what it was like to go hungry, which is why he grew food and gave it away. On February 20th - two days before his 63rd wedding anniversary - Earlin departed this life peacefully at home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia, and Lawrence; his daughter, Marilyn; his sister, Eileen George and his brother, Sidney Hutchinson.  Earlin is survived by his devoted wife, Monica; his children, Sharon Munroe, Samuel Munroe, Dianne Munroe and Margaret Floyd; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers Emmanuel Alexander with wife Shirley, Dennis Alexander with wife Jocelyn and Joseph Warderly with wife Cassima; and a host of nieces and nephews; special angels Debra Alexander, Deslyn Alexander, Sheldon Jeremiah and Carol Mills; family friends including Shirdy Brown, Carlyle Ross and the employees of Birds from Paradise; the Alexander, Munro, Williams and Brown families; friends and neighbors in Canada, England, Grenada, Trinidad and the United States.
