Quick Fruit Cake:.

1/2 lb Butter
1 1/2 cups Flour
1-Cup Sugar
l teaspoon Baking Powder
6 Eggs
1 cup Raisins
3 teaspoons bitters
1-cup currants
1 t/sp vanilla
1/2 cup mixed peel
1 cup prunes (1/2 cup almonds optional)
1/2 cup rum,
1/2 cup port,
1/2 cup whiskey,
1-cup brandy
1/4 cup colouring.

( For those who know how to make colouring do so,if not buy the commercial type which usually is very good).

The day before put the dried fruits to soak over night.
Put the fruits in blender to crush.
Cream butter and sugar.Do not wait for sugar to dissolve completely ,before adding eggs.
Add eggs one at a time, add 1/2 of the flour, b/p then fruit, add remaining flour, bitters,vanilla and colouring.
Bake in a slow oven 300 degrees. Grease and line tin before putting batter in.
