Viewing for the late Eric Gittens will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Mechanics Temple(65 Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, NY) from 6 to 8 pm.
The funeral service for the late Eric Gittens will be held on Friday, December 16 at St. Teresa of Avilla (536 Sterling Place, Brooklyn, NY 11238). There will be a viewing held from 5 to 7 pm with the service beginning at 7pm.

Eric Andrew Gittens saw sunrise on November 10, 1928 in the village of Birch Grove, St. Andrews, Grenada. He took his final breath on December 4, 2016 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the first born of six boys and one girl to the late Monica and Rupert Gittens. .
Eric married his late wife, Martina Humphrey-Wharton on January 27, 1952, together they had 9 children and raised countless more. He was later remarried to Carmen Gittens.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Gittens; his children: Maudlyn Gittens, Joslyn Robinson, Franklin Gittens, Josephine Ince, Sheridan Gittens, Reginald Gittens, Yvonne Gittens, Florentina Gittens, William Gittens and one adopted child, Brenda Quarless; his three brothers: Clement Gittens, Dennis Gittens, and Terrence Gittens, and his only sister, Esther Gittens; his 30 grandchildren including Kelly Gittens, 28 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren. He was the father-in-law of: Leylia Gittens, Samuel Ince, Tina Gittens, and Lisa Gittens. Many nieces and nephews including Roosevelt Gittens; brother-in-law of: Odessa Gittens, Rita Gittens, Merline Gittens, Yvonne Gittens, Helen Farray, Agnes Wharton, Earla Baptiste, Lynca Bowen, Patrick Humphrey, Bob Humphrey, and Peter Humphrey. He was loved by many friends and family, to include: the Gittens family, Kenneth Joseph and family, the Joseph family, the Campbell family, the Beckles family, the Henry family, the McSween family, the Bubb family, the Quarless family, the Belmars family, the Neckles family, Carlye Noel and family, the Barriteau family, Marjorie Edwards and Michael, the Kline family of Grand Bras, and his lodge family including Mr. Decoteau aka “Whitehead”, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Williams, and the Murrays.
