The remains of Cyril L. Hosten will be shipped back to his beloved homeland of Grenada for Interment at the Coast Guard cemetery, Victoria St. Mark's.

Cyril Lionel Hosten, was born on June 6th, 1932 in Grenada to Egerton and Petronella Hosten. Cyril was one of six children. He attended the St. Marks’s, St. Patrick’s Anglican, and the Grenada Boy’s Secondary School. Cyril was affectionately known as “Uncle C” or “Hosten.”
At the age of 19, Cyril left the Grenada Boy’s Secondary School and enlisted in the Grenada Police Force.
14 years forward, In September of 1965, Cyril Married Celestine Joseph in Morne Jaloux, Carriacou. From their union, five boys were born: Lionel, David, Lincoln, Dennis, and Desmond.
In addition to serving the Grenada Police Force, Cyril served the Grenada Fire Department, and was the official driver of Dame Hilde Bynoe, the Governor General of Grenada. In June of 1975, Cyril retired from the Grenada Police Force at the rank of Sergeant- of- Police.
In 1978, his wife, Celestine, migrated to the U.S. Two years later, Lionel, Lincoln and Cyril left Grenada to join Celestine in the U.S. In 1981 David, Dennis, and Desmond soon joined them.
In 1992 Cyril’s fourth eldest child, Lincoln, departed to be with the Lord.
In July of 1982, Cyril was hired as a security guard for Hilton Hotels. There he remained for over 15 years of service until retiring in September of 1997.
Upon retirement, Cyril lived a quiet life and enjoyed all his vices.
For those who knew Cyril, knew he was a straightforward man with a spicy tongue. Articulate, organized, and great with managing his money. Cyril will forever be remembered as a great friend to many.
Cyril is survived by his wife Celestine Hosten, siblings: Lyle Hosten, Fulton Hosten, Thelma Hosten and more; six (6) children: Victor Charles, Lionel Hosten, Lydia Jackasal, David Hosten (Tracyann Hosten), Dennis Hosten, Desmond Hosten; twelve (12) grandchildren; five (5) great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
